SPECIAL SESSIONS
We propose a set of Special Sessions: a retrospective look at the work of the filmmaker Adriana Vila as well as a set of film sessions a la fresca; as is the case of the film Un sol radiante (2023) by Mònica Cambra and Ariadna Fortuny. Even so, we pay attention to the cinema made in the valley, revisiting the amateur films Apuntes del Vall de Ribes (1975-76) by Josep Mas, Manel Tomàs, Pere Casanelles and we explore the living materiality of the Sagadell river with the piece The intricate Dance (2022) by Jodie Chinn. We have the opportunity to premiere, on a national scale, the film Para no olvidar (2023) by Laura Gabay.

Notes from Ribes Valley
(SECOND PART)
Josep Mas, Manel Tomàs, Pere Casanelles
1975-76. 30’. Catalonia. VOC. Super-8.
*With the presence of Manel Tomàs (Photography Director).
The Gollut Festival continues to delve into the audiovisual memory of the Ribes de Freser valley and its surroundings. This year, we are screening the second part of the home recordings from the film ‘Notes from the Ribes Valley.’ The film will be shown on Super 8, in an open-air cinema session at the Town Hall Square.
Throughout 1975 and 1976, Josep Mas, Manel Tomàs, and Pere Casanelles captured the landscape of the Ribes de Freser Valley, the life of the village and its surroundings, and a series of events that took place in the area. These recordings, made from an intimate and selfless perspective, are now a testimony that shapes the space of personal memory. The images, from a distance, place us in contemporary space and time. They revisit what is absent, shaping a microhistory beyond the official narrative, and make us question our present situation.

A careful translation of shared thinking. An applied sketch of becoming and generating-with. Intertwined trail walkers. A silhouette of the reflexive encounter, in its most mundane condition. Becoming what the other suggests. Accepting the proposal of subjectivity. Apprising the way in which everything is addressed to each other.
Opening versions like books, in the exercise of string figures, speculating with stories so they can be on going.

With Adriana Vila
Through the screening of a selection of 16mm short films by filmmaker and anthropologist Adriana Vila Guevara, the author will reveal the foundations and secrets underlying the stages of her creative work, including short films, feature films, and expanded cinema. This performative lecture will explore the genealogy of her creative processes, in dialogue and collaboration with other artists such as Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Rocío Molina, Isaki Lacuesta, El Niño de Elche, Alfredo Costa Monteiro, Florian Sighartner, and Adriano Galante. It is an opening of the compositional (formal and conceptual) chest of an artist who has built her creative path in constant connection with the inspiring and transformative power of nature, using cinema as alchemy, with responsibility, intuition, conviction, and commitment.

Para no olvidar explores the videographic relationship between two exiles. A hypnotically beautiful film that bears witness to the pain of exile and the great changes of the last century.
